Chandrat Ceremony
About This Service
The Moon Night Tradition at Unava
Chandrat is a special ceremony observed on sacred moon nights at the Dargah Sharif — particularly on Eid nights and the auspicious 29th of each Hijri month. A deeply beautiful occasion with special prayers, illumination of the Dargah, and collective blessings.
The most sacred Chandrat at Unava is the night of 29 Ramzan — the saint’s birthday. On this night, thousands gather for the Eid Gusal ceremony in which the Mazar Sharif is washed with rose water, and the entire Dargah is illuminated and alive with prayers and devotion.

The word “Chandrat” comes from “Chand” — moon. It refers to the special prayers and gatherings that happen on the eve of the Eid moon — and more broadly to any sacred moon night at the Dargah. Chandrat carries exceptional significance because the saint himself was born on a moon night (29 Ramzan).
