Chadar
About This Service
A Cloth of Love — Laid Upon the Holy Tomb
Offering a Chadar — a beautifully decorated cloth — on the Mazar Sharif is one of the most beloved expressions of love and devotion at any dargah. The Chadar is presented by the Khadim on your behalf, laid upon the holy tomb as your personal offering to the saint.
When you offer a Chadar, you are making a physical gesture of your love for the saint — clothing his resting place with your devotion. It can be done as a Mannat fulfilment, as a prayer of gratitude, or as a simple act of love during any visit.

Arrange your Chadar offering
The offering of a Chadar is a tradition that spans all of India’s dargahs — and at Unava Sharif, it holds a particularly deep significance. The Chadar is typically a green, gold or colourful embroidered cloth, often adorned with roses and fragrant flowers, placed lovingly over the Mazar Sharif.
You may bring your own Chadar or purchase one near the Dargah. Chadar shops are located very close to the entrance of the Dargah Sharif.
Hand your Chadar to your Khadim at the Mazar Sharif. The Khadim will guide the correct procedure and say the appropriate prayers as the Chadar is placed.
The Khadim places the Chadar upon the Mazar Sharif, adorned with rose petals and fragrant flowers, in a ceremony of deep reverence and love.
